Certain Blacks – Circus Circus Circus

Certain Blacks is an arts development organisation formed to support the growth of diverse artists. The organisation presents performance, live art, music and theatre and the creative voice of our diverse society. Our philosophy is to provide performance opportunities for new, emerging and established artists of the highest quality. The organisation aims to challenge the norms of performance and what is seen as diverse. Certain Blacks presents art from the margins into the mainstream.

Certain Blacks has presented three festivals of diverse arts, My Vote Day Count, Arts Ensemble and Harlem that have supported many artists including Lady Vendredi, Franko B, Byron Wallen, Crying in the Wilderness, Shabnam Shabazi, Lyrix Organix, Addictive TV and Fancy Chance. The festivals have included commissions of new works from artists and past events have attractive truly diverse audiences to new music, theatre and live arts performance.

Circus Circus Circus will continue this series by developing new work from circus, live arts performer’s, musicians, theatre, dance, music and spoken word. The festival aims to take place at innovative venues across London and will present high quality new, diverse work to audiences across the region. The festival will partner with Vicki Amedume of Upswing, to curate a programme of new work from the margins to the mainstream with the festival presenting a programme of new circus for first time.
