Certain Blacks

[kleo_gap size=”20px”]

Certain Blacks is an arts development organisation supporting diverse performing artists. The philosophy and curatorial vision are to provide opportunities for high-calibre new, emerging and established artists, also challenging what is seen as diverse. Certain Blacks present art from the margins to the mainstream with a wealth of experience producing work in venues and curating outdoor performances. Certain Blacks is based in the Royal Docks  and is supported by Arts Council England, and has recently become a National Portfolio Organisation.

Certain Blacks present two festivals a year. An outdoor festival called Ensemble Festival in The Royal Docks London and an Indoor festival which will be called Soul on Ice and take place at Rich Mix, London. Certain Blacks is part of Without Walls Artistic Directorate. We commission new work each year which tours to partner festivals including Greenwich and Docklands International Festival, Brighton Festival, Norfolk and Norwich Festival and Stockton International Riverside Festival. Certain Blacks supports Combined Arts. Areas include theatre, dance, music,  live art, contemporary circus, spoken word and outdoor arts.
