Byron Wallen

Langston Hughes was an American poet, novelist, and playwright whose African-American themes made him a primary contributor to the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s. In 2002 Byron Wallen was commissioned by The South Bank Centre to write music for his Centenary celebration at the Poetry International festival. Byron will revisit this music with his award winning innovative band Indigo plus special guests.

The festival will present a concert of New Jazz Compositions influenced by the work of Langston Hughes. Hughes was an American poet, novelist, and playwright whose African-American themes made him a primary contributor to the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s. Byron will present a night of new compositions based on the work of the poet with a performance rarely seen in London. http://byronwallen.co.uk/
