Best Friends - Park Theatre

Best Friends – Park Theatre – 17 October 2025

After a sold-out performance at Afro Futures Festival (Rich Mix) earlier this year, Certain Blacks’ long-time collaborators, Crying in the Wilderness Productions, present Best Friends.

Written and directed by Paul Anthony Morris, the play is a heartfelt drama that celebrates the power of our friendships. First performed at Park Theatre in 2024, the show returns this autumn in a vibrant showcase that paves the way for its debut production.

Martin and Tyrone check into the Sacred Life Retreat Centre for assisted dying, intending to spend Martin’s last 24 hours together. But as long-buried tensions start to re-emerge, their carefully managed plans for Martin’s smooth transition begin to fall apart. With time quickly running out, our protagonists must come up with a plan to reconcile their differences or part ways in anger and regret.

Best Friends by Crying in the Wilderness Productions balances humour and sensitivity in this poignant theatre piece delving into the subject of friendship and assisted dying, a highly relevant topic in today’s England.

Featuring an award-winning team of cast and creatives from the US, UK, Canada and China, this innovative theatrical showcase seamlessly blends staged reading and live performance, music, dance and sound design. This fusion reveals the artistry behind theatre-making while immersing audiences in a gripping live drama.
