Certain Blacks is planning a programme of new circus, performance and live art,
by artists working outside of the mainstream.
A festival celebrating diversity rather than being based on artist’s backgrounds or identities. And highlighting that the curation of the festival began by working with artists from early stages (sometimes from conception) and supporting them with mentors, dramaturges and development partnerships to help the work realise its full potential.
Circus
Certain Blacks presents a programme of work that crosses circus, live arts and performance. The circus programme includes aerial dance duo Out of Order, performer Symone who has developed work with Steak House Live and Duckie and who is currently associate artists at The Roundhouse, The Brownie Club, aerial hoop performer Joana Dias presenting 1989 that explores her Portuguese and Angolan heritage and Tom Brown who explores notions of identity and reality.
